The NHRC OF Mongolia conducts a monitoring at electoral polling stations on the occasion of the parliamentary election

The Parliamentary elections of Mongolia took place on the 24th of June 2020. The Commission conducted a monitoring at all districts and centers of 19 provinces from 17th June until 23th June 2020, under a specific Terms of Reference, to oversee whether each polling station is accessible for all such as ramps are in place for wheelchair users, braille ballots and magnifiers are ready for visually impaired voters, polling booths ensure voter privacy, and signs for entry and exit directions are placed or not. In addition, the NHRCM also monitored whether the preventive measures against COVID-19 are ensured at each polling station. The monitoring works were conducted under the leadership of Commissioners.

The preliminary results of the monitoring along with the recommendations were submitted to the relevant public bodies to improve the accessibility and preparatory works of polling stations in order to ensure the right of the Mongolian citizens to vote and to be elected under its obligations before the international treaties and domestic laws.
