The Commission organized an exchange meeting on “Human rights education in universities: Gender equality” on 31 October 2019 to exchange information and share practices on delivery of human rights education through university programs, implementation of gender equality at tertiary education level as well as to identify gaps in concept and terms of human rights subject and to strengthen cooperation with universities. The meeting conveyed representatives from more than 20 universities including university directors, program managers and head of faculties.
During a delivery of the opening remarks for the meeting, Chief Commissioner Byambadorj and Commissioner Oyunchimeg emphasized a necessity to reflect the human rights and gender policies into university education programs and to prepare education personnel with adequate human rights knowledge, which would eventually lead to a greater contribution to the development of the country.
In the course of the meeting, the stakeholders presented issues related to the human rights education in tertiary education system and the reflection of the concept of gender equality in university programs. There was a candid discussion among the participants about their good experiences and challenges in delivering human rights education and the further cooperation between the Commission and the universities.
