The field visit team reached its 20th province to conduct a "Gender and human rights" training and inquiry

A working group headed by Commissioner Oyunchimeg Purev has worked in Sukhbaatar province from 23-25 September 2019 to oversee the implementation of Law on Promotion of Gender Equality and to conduct a training on gender and human rights. So far, the working group reached its 20th province out of 21 provinces in Mongolia.

The working group has been conducting a gender and human rights training for public administrative managers in 21 provinces in order to support building a professional public service in Mongolia and to build a capacity of and raise human rights awareness of public servants to ensure gender equality in work place. In addition, the working group has been conducting an inquiry into each province.

During the inquiry, the working group reviews any rules and administrative acts of public organizations to see whether they comply with relevant laws and whether employers have enabled an environment to ensure gender equality and labour rights in the workplace. The working group involves around 10 public organizations in each province in its inquiry. When the working group identifies any violation related to the human rights, the Commission issues and submits a demand of Commissioner to the concerning public body to remedy the violation. Following the Commissioner’s demand letter, the concerning local public authority responds back in writing on their actions taken to eliminate the violation. This project is being implemented with support of UNDP.
