Signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the rights of girls and women

On international human rights day on 10 December 2018, the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia and Mongolian Women’s Fund have signed a memorandum of understanding.

The purpose of the MOU is to collaborate on the rights of girls and women. The prevalence of gender-based violence, violation of the sexual and reproduction rights among girls and women in Mongolia has become one of the concerning issues in the society. In 2018, the NHRC has conducted a study, with support of UNDP, on the sexual and productive rights of teenage girls, and girls and women with disabilities. The Commission has been carrying out advocacy activities aimed at public to raise their awareness of human rights of women with disabilities.

In addition, the Commission has been collaborating with law enforcement agencies to fight against gender-based violence and organizing a human rights training for their staff.

“We hope that the establishing a MOU with 94-year-old women’s organization will facilitate us to reach the target group” Chief Commissioner Byambadorj Jamsran highlighted in the course of signing the MOU.
