Chief Commissioner participates in 30th General Meeting of GANHRI

Prof. Byambadorj Jamsran, Chief Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, participated in the 30^thGeneral Meeting and Annual Conference of the Global Alliance of national human rights institutions, which was held from 6 to March 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland.

He chaired the session of the APF regional meeting on 6 March, which covered the issues of election of members to represent the region in the Sub-Committee on Accreditation and the Working group on business and human rights of the GANHRI and endorsement of the semiannual financial statement and 2017-2018 activity plan of the Asia Pacific Forum.

During the sessions of the General Meeting on 8 March the participants considered the issues on topics such as "Early warning mechanisms and human rights defenders”, which was chaired by Chief Commissioner Byambadorj Jamsran, "Business and human rights,” "Cooperation of NHRIs and best practices,” and "Sustainable development goals” and released statements on "Election related political violence,” "Factors that lead to violences,” and "Preserving independence of NHRIs”. Through this year’s General Meeting the participants also endorsed new membership of the Bureau, revised the Statute of GANHRI, discussed financial and activity report of the Alliance, and amended 2017-2019 strategy and subscription of of the Alliance.

On 9 March 2017 Chief Commissioner participated in the meeting on "Roles of NHRIs in promotion and protection of human rights: Contribution to implementation of 2030 Agenda”.
