As one of the key stakeholders in implementation of the UNDP project on “Towards a Professional and Citizen-centred Civil Service in Mongolia”, the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia conducted oversight on the implementation of the Law on the Promotion of Gender Equality in rural areas. The Commission’s working group led by Commissioner P. Oyunchimeg worked in Govisumber and Dornogovi provinces from 29 June to 4 July 2020 to oversee the implementation of the law, met with managers of over ten government organizations and conducted a human rights training for local public servants. The local law enforcement officers (court, prosecution office and police) were involved in a training on “The right to be free from torture”, while public administrative officers attended a training on “Gender and human rights”.

In addition, the working group also examined the situation of prevention measures against COVID-19 at some local government places and assessed the implementation of sexual and reproductive health and rights of girls and women living near the mining affected areas in these two provinces.
