• National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia received A status based on accreditation from ICC SCA for the 3rd time

NHRCM to continue collaborating with Confederation of Mongolian Trade Union

Acting Chief Commissioner J.Khunan and Commissioners Kh.Munkhzul, G.Narantuya, D.Sunjid, B.Enkhbold of NHRCM held meeting with CMTU Secretary general G.Adiya, Head of Labour Inspection and Law Policy Division Ts.Otgontungalag, on 14 December 2020 and exchanged views on current situations. NHRCM and CMTU have established long lasting relationship.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr G.Adiya introduced structure and functions of CMTU to new Commissioners and provided information on the status of labour rights during pandemic. He then informed about the delay in conducting joint inquiry amongst drivers of Tsagaan khad in Umnugovi province due to lockdown measures and touched issues of difficult working conditions in healthcare sector.

Acting Chief Commisssioner J.Khunan introduced new Commissioners, expressed interest in collaborating in labour rights violations during COVID-19 pandemic and updated representatives of CMTU on delivering proposal to Parliament on the matter of the importance of including some marginalised groups in revision of Labour Code.

Also, he kindly requested their support in Draft Law on Legal status on Human Rights Defenders which is to be considered by the Parliament of Mongolia in near future.

It was noted that Commission would conduct inquiry in health sector regarding working conditions of healthcare workers, and took into consideration of labour rights of persons with disability, workers in mining industry, and coal transport truck drivers, as well as workers of media and journalism sector.
