The NHRCM conducts inquiry in drunk tanks and detention center

A working group led by Acting Chief Commissioner Mr. Khunan Jargalsaikhan of the NHRCM conducted inquiry in drunk tanks and detention center on 5 January 2021 in accordance with articles 7.1.6, 7.1.10 and 18.1.2 of the Law on National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia and articles 5 and 11.5 of the Law on Prevention, Control and Reduction of Socio-Economic Impacts of Coronavirus Pandemic (Covid-19).

The inquiry was conducted in Drunk tank of the Traffic Police Authority in railroad and Drunk tank, detention center under the Police of the Capital.

Under a specific terms of reference, the working group examined whether there were specific rules, regulations, plans, guidance, recommendations on treating people during COVID-19 in drunk tanks and detention centers, whether those centers respect preventive guidelines such as distancing, and conditions of health care services in drunk tanks and detention centers.
