• National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia received A status based on accreditation from ICC SCA for the 3rd time

NHRCM delivers a Recommendation to the National Police Agency of Mongolia on ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities in criminal investigations

Police detainming a person with a hearing or speech impairment in connection with a criminal offense, not accommodating sign language interpreter during inquiry or investigation, not immediately notify their family in case of communication difficulties, and not providing access to assistance in criminal proceedings are considered as a violation of human rights in a criminal proceeding, and violation of the right to a fair trial.

Accordingly, the National Human Rights Commission delivered a Recommendation on 12 April 2021 to the Director of National Police Agency, J.Bold, regarding establishing appropriate management and organizational measures and coordination with relevant organizations such as the National Agency for the Development of Persons with Disabilities to provide sign language interpreters for criminal cases concerning persons with hearing or speech impairments.

The National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia monitors government activities to ensure equal rights and equal opportunities for all, and the implementation of legislation that guarantees the rights and participation of persons with disabilities.
