Adv. Mabedle Lawrence Mushwana, Chairperson of the International Coordinating Committee of the national institutions for the promotion and protection of the human rights and freedoms, handed the certificate of ‘A’ status of the NHRCM to Professor Byambadorj Jamsran, Chief Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, during the ICC 28th General Meeting in Geneva on 12 March 2015. The decision to re-accredit the NHRCM with ‘A’ status was released from the meeting of the Sub-Committee on Accreditation held in October 2014. Thus, the NHRCM has been re-accredited with ‘A’ status for the third time. As a full member of the ICC with ‘A’ status, the NHRCM is entitled to participate in activities within the human rights system of the UN independently from the State by taking part in the sessions of UN Human Rights Council and human rights treaty bodies and making statements during those meetings on relevant human rights issues in the country.
During this General Meeting the NHRCM also was elected as a member of the Bureau of the ICC. ICC Bureau is the highest governing authority of the ICC. Each regional network nominates four candidates to the Bureau.
