Acting Chief Commissioner J.Khunan and commissioner G.Narantuya of NHRCM held meeting with Ms. Kaori Ishikawa, Resident Representative of UNFPA in Mongolia, on 17 December 2020 and exchanged views on current situations and cooperation.
During the meeting, issues related to rights of women and girls, limited access to healthcare and services which causes the rise of maternal death rate were raised, continued operation of one stop service center (OSSC) for victims of gender-based violence and domestic violence was emphasized and Government’s actions were complimented.
It was expressed that Joint project on “Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Improving Healthcare policies and regulations” is to be extended in the future.
Furthermore, it was noted that subjects related to reproductive health of women and girls, domestic violence and maternal mortality in state of emergency shall be taken into consideration. Specifically, issues related to those who live in isolation or in countryside were noted. Also, parties highlighted the importance of community awareness and education activities in reducing gender-based violence and maternal mortality.
Both parties agreed to cooperate on the matter of human rights issues related to health sector.
